The Tipsy Range

As a seller/server, you have been trained to recognize when a customer has had too much to drink. It is your responsibility to ensure the safety of your patrons when you sell and serve alcohol. Overly tipsy people may become aggressive or disruptive. Recognizing when a customer has had too much to drink is essential.

Where are your customers in the tipsy range? ABCD has developed resources to help determine when someone has ‘had enough’:

2. Posters for Customers and Servers:

  • For the customer:
    • Hang posters for the bathroom on stall doors or mirrors, in a hallway, or at the bar (speaking to the customer)
  • For the server – use the ‘Posters’:
    • Put behind the bar
    • Laminate them and circle where “Bob” or “Suzie” are on the tipsy range at shift changes

3. “Zebra Striping”:

This is a strategy to moderate booze intake. You may have already been doing this, but check out these tips:
